  TSPC will meet May 6-7, 2004

The TSPC will meet May 6-7, at George Fox University, Portland Center Rooms 155 A&B, 12753 SW 68th Avenue, Portland OR 97223. The Executive Committee will meet at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday the 6th and will only reconvene on Friday the 7th at 7:30 if necessary. The Standing Committees will meet at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 6th, and are expected to conclude mid afternoon. The full Commission will convene on Friday, May 7th, at 8:00 a.m.

Business will include:
Proposal from Continuing Teaching License Subcommittee;
Proposed Legislative Concepts and 2005-2007 Budget;
Implementation Plan for Elementary and Middle Level Tests for Licensure;
Implementation of Middle Level Content Tests for HQT Determination;
Summer Administration for all ETS PRAXIS Series Tests;
MSAT Phase-Out;
Proposed Cut Scores for the ETS PRAXIS Social Studies: Interpretation and Analysis (0085);
Adoption of amendments to Criminal Records Check Requirement;
Adoption of amendments to Limited Teaching License;
Rule hearings on OARs 584-010-0020; 584-017-0185; 584-036-0062; 584-060-0171; 584-065-0060; and 584-070-0011.

A public hearing is scheduled for May 6th at 3:00 p.m. to receive oral and written testimony regarding Commissioner participation on Program Site Review Teams (OAR 584-010-0020; amending teacher work sample requirements to include differentiation of instruction (OAR 584-017-0185); clarifying fingerprint check requirements (OAR 584-036-0062), removing certain requirements for Limited Teaching License renewal (OAR 584-060-0171); establishing teacher competencies for middle-level and high school mathematics license endorsements (OAR 584-065-0060); and allowing an alternative route to the Initial School Counselor License (OAR 584-070-0011).

DIRECTIONS TO GEORGE FOX UNIVERSITY PORTLAND CENTER

From I-5:
From the north, take Exit 292 (Tigard/Beaverton) to Hwy. 217. Take the 72nd Avenue exit. Turn right on 72nd, then another quick right on Hampton Street. George Fox University's Portland Center is on the left between 68th and 69th.

From the south, take Exit 292B (go under the 217 overpass). At the signal, turn right onto 217 (left would be Kruse Way). Proceed over I-5 to first exit (72nd Avenue). Turn right on 72nd, then another quick right on Hampton Street. George Fox University's Portland Center is on the left between 68th and 69th.

In heavy traffic, take exit 293 (Haines Street). Cross over I-5 and proceed to 68th. Turn left on 68th and proceed to George Fox University's Portland Center, which will be on your right.

Highway 217 (from Beaverton or Hwy. 99W)
Take the 72nd Avenue exit. Turn right on 72nd, cross over the overpass, and proceed to Hampton Street. Turn right onto Hampton Street. George Fox University's Portland Center is on the left between 68th and 69th.
