  New TSPC Commissioner - Charleen K. Hoiland
  Released: Friday, May 21, 2004 at 5:00 PM
 
 
 
Charleen K. Hoiland has been appointed by Governor Kulongoski to the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission. She will fill the duration of an unexpired 3-year term that began April 9, 2004, and will end December 31, 2004. Ms. Hoiland succeeds Sharon Shannon on the Commission representing one of four junior or senior high school teachers.

Ms. Hoiland currently lives in Salem and works at the Oregon School for the Deaf. She developed an interest in teacher education programs and licensure in the 80's which developed into a passion. She has teaching experience at all grade levels in urban and rural areas of Oregon, plus k-12 library media experience. She has experience with the full range of special education services for the deaf and hard of hearing students, from itinerant consultation to special day classes in public schools to a residential school setting.
