New TSPC Commissioner - Gary A. Peterson
Released: Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 5:00 PM
Gary A. Peterson has been appointed by Governor Kulongoski to the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission. He will fill the duration of a 3-year term that began June 25, 2004, and will end December 31, 2006. Mr. Peterson succeeds Jerry Colonna on the Commission representing superintendents of city schools.

Mr. Peterson has been a Superintendent for eight years; three years in the Dayton School District and five years with Crook County School District. On July 1st, he assumed the position of Superintendent in the Redmond School District. He was first licensed as a teacher by TSPC in 1974 and has held teaching or administrative licenses ever since. He has 14 years experience as a classroom teacher and 16 years experience as a school administrator, including the eight years as a district superintendent. He believes these experiences, combined with regular adherence to TSPC rules and recommendations, have provided him with a sound foundation for service on the Commission.
