  Public Hearing on American Indian Language license
  Released: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 5:00 PM
 
 
 
The proposed rule change has been revised, please see the more recent news release regarding this public hearing. The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission will hold a hearing on July 31, 2002, at 4:00 p.m. at the University of Portland, Buckley Center, Room 163, 5000 North Willamette Blvd, Portland OR 97203 on creating an American Indian language license. The 2001 Legislature passed Senate Bill 690 requiring TSPC to create a teaching license for American Indian languages.

The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Hearing and Statement of Need and Fiscal Impact were filed with the Secretary of State on June 5, 2002. The Commission proposes to adopt OAR 584-060-0200 outlining the Requirements for a Three-Year American Indian Languages Teaching License and to amend the definitions in OAR 584-005-0005 to include "American Indian Language Instructor Appraisal Committee" and "Technical Assistance Program".
