  Commission Meeting - Action Summary
  Released: Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 5:00 PM
The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission met for a one day meeting on April 28th, 2005 and conducted the following business:

1. Approved the University of Phoenix to offer a Master of Arts in Teaching. [See Commission agenda at 2.1 for more information.]

2. Approved the addition of a middle-school subject-matter endorsement in Language Arts, Social Studies and Science effective May 1, 2005.

3. Approved alternative assessments for Martha Diaz and Victor Vergara.

4. Approved adjustments in the passing scores the following PRAXIS tests:
ESOL (0360): from 520 to 510
German Content (0181): from 157 to 156
Reading (0300): from 620 to 610
Social Studies (0085): from 165 to 155
Special Education Application (0352): from 147 to 158
Speech Communication (0220): from 610 to 620
Technology (0050): from 630 to 620

5. Referred all rules posted in agenda items 5.1 and 5.2 to hearing before August 1, 2005. [Commission rule hearings will now be held between commission meetings unless the commission expressly decides to conduct the hearing on the issue at a particular meeting.]

6. Voted to give the rubric evaluation scale to all alternative assessment candidates including those denied in the past.

7. The August Commission meeting will be held in Bend on the 3-4-5 dates at the OSU campus.
