The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission meeting scheduled for March 9-10, 2006, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Wilsonville has been cancelled. Instead, the Commission will meet via conference call on Thursday, March 9th, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in public session to reconsider an administrative rule change for Child Development Specialists and conduct training for Commissioners on hearings pursuant to ORS 342.553. The Commission will then meet in executive session (non-public) from 4:30-6:00 p.m. to consider pending disciplinary actions.

An AT&T teleconference call has been established for the public portion of the meeting from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on March 9th. The toll free dial in number is 1-888-285-4585 and the participant code is 391284.

For the executive session (non-public) from 4:30-6:00 p.m., another separate teleconference call has been established for the Commission to consider disciplinary cases, pursuant to the provisions of ORS 342.176. At the end of that executive session, the Commission will consider adoption of orders in public session. If anyone wishes to join the second teleconference call immediately after the executive session is finished, please inform Melody Hanson at 503-373-1260 or melody.hanson@state.or.us

TSPC apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The Commission will conduct normal business during the next meeting scheduled for May 11-12, 2006, at Portland State University. The Commission may meet for part of a day on May 10, 2006, to conduct any business that may need to be addressed due to the length of time between meetings.

Additionally, the Cultural Competency Conversation with Stakeholders tentatively planned for the May meeting will be held during the summer meeting on August 2-4, 2006, in Lincoln City, Oregon.
