  PREVIEW OF AUGUST 2006 COMMISSION MEETING

The next meeting of the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission will be held at Surftides Inn ~ On The Beach in their Ki West Banquet Room on August 2-4, 2006. Surftides Inn is located in the north end of Lincoln City at 2945 NW Jetty Avenue. The Inn is located on the beach with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and Cascade Head. From Hwy. 101, turn on NW 30th and follow it to the end. For additional information, please visit the Inn's Web site at www.surftidesinn.com. Ample parking is available. To assist you in determining your travel and lodging needs if you plan to attend any or all of this meeting, Wednesday, August 2nd, the Commission will consider: Preliminary Business; Program Approval Issues; and Licensure Issues. On Thursday, August 3rd, the Commission will address: Commission Business; and Administrative Rule Adoption and Reports. On the morning of Friday, August 4th, the Commission will meet in executive session to consider alternative assessments and disciplinary cases. Any unfinished agenda items will also be considered on that day. The final agenda, listing agenda items and attachments, will be available on our Web site approximately 10 days prior to the meeting.

Lodging arrangements have been made for Commissioners to stay at Surftides Inn. However, there are numerous other lodging facilities in Lincoln City. Please visit the Visitor and Convention Bureau Web site at http://www.oregoncoast.org/pages/lodging-packages.html for various lodging choices; most within a few miles of the meeting site. If you are unable to secure your own lodging arrangements, please inform Kathy Rogers as TSPC does have a small block of rooms reserved. You will be responsible for the cost of your own room and tax. During the meeting, lunch will be catered by Ki West Restaurant, an on-site caterer. One of the amenities of Surftides Inn is their famous Ki West Restaurant & Lounge. For your dinner arrangements, the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau also has a listing of nearby restaurants/lounges: http://www.oregoncoast.org/pages/dining.html. From there, you may also access information on "Things to Do, Calendar of Events, Shopping, etc. such as Factory Stores at Lincoln City, Chinook Winds Casino, antique shops, and renowned art galleries. And for your relaxation, there are four nearby golf courses nestled in the scenic beauty of the Central Coast.
