  News Release

The following is a news release from the Oregon Teacher Standards and Commission. If there are more details that we can provide for you, please feel free to contact us (see Contact Us).

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Summit POSTPONED
Released: Friday, February 15, 2008 at 5:00 PM

The CPD Steering Committee met on February 14, 2008, and, after several hours of discussion, concluded that it is premature to hold a CPD summit at this time. Part of this is based on a broader understanding of last session's legislation and the direction that newly proposed legislation in 2009 might be headed. The steering committee was composed of former commissioners and stakeholders who were involved in the commission's roll out of CPD in the late 1990's.

Therefore, the CPD Summit scheduled for March 5, 2008, has been postponed.

Commission staff will be collecting information to better inform any future conversations about continuing professional development. We are interested in hearing from you on two issues at the following email address: contact.tspc@state.or.us

Please label your subject line: Continuing Professional Development
1. Why were you interested in attending the summit?
2. What issues related to CPD do you think the commission should address, if any.

Thank you,

Vickie Chamberlain
Executive Director
Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission
