Replacement to the Professional Technical Teaching Licenses
Released: Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 5:00 PM
Teacher Standards and Practices Commission has replaced the Professional Technical Teacher licenses with the new Career and Technical Teacher licenses. This action was done to reflect the changes made by the Oregon Department of Education renaming the Professional Technical Education programs to Career and Technical Education programs.

On January 23rd, TSPC replaced all active Three-Year Professional Technical Licenses with a Three-Year Career and Technical License. Likewise, any active Five-Year Professional Technical Licenses were replaced by the Five-Year Career and Technical License.

TSPC records were updated to reflect that active Three-Year Professional Technical Licenses and active Five-Year Professional Technical Licenses were EXPIRED as of January 21, 2008. The new licenses were issued with an effective date of February 1, 2008, and the expiration date that of the replaced license.

Other than the change in the name of the license, all authority of the prior license was carried forward. For purposes of reporting professional experience while holding the Career and Technical license, TSPC will recognize the combination of time from the original Professional Technical license and the new Career and Technical license.
