  News Release
The following is a news release from the Oregon Teacher Standards and Commission. If there are more details that we can provide for you, please feel free to contact us (see Contact Us).
Cancelled: Stakeholder Meeting on Establishing Program Standards
Released: Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 5:00 PM
NOTICE - CANCELLATION of Meeting. Due to low attendance response this meeting will be reconvened in conjunction with the summer commission meeting in Newport on August 5 or 6.

Teacher Standards and Practices Commission will conduct a meeting on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel in Salem (provided that much time is needed).

TSPC has been working on establishing standards to evaluate programs that specifically offer endorsements and authorizations to Initial and Continuing Teaching Licenses. The commission has not specifically included these programs in site visits in the past and has been remiss in not developing standards and procedures to ensure that programs adopted by the commission are actually being delivered. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the standards, procedures and expectations for content endorsement program review and grade authorization program review. This meeting is NOT about revising the currently adopted unit standards for educator preparation program review.

This meeting is being scheduled to gather input on a proposed process for state review of endorsement and authorization programs ONLY. Former commissioners, advocacy organizations and the deans of education have been invited.
