The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission is currently recruiting for an Investigator 3. The position is supported by permanent funding. A job announcement has been posted on the State of Oregon Jobs page at: http://www.oregon.gov/DAS/jobs/LETS0001.shtml.

This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Professional Practices and serves as the primary contact between TSPC and the Attorney General's (AG's) office. In addition to conducting investigations, the person will work with the AG's office on issues related to active investigations and actions that will come before the commission for consideration. The position is also the primary contact with the educators and defense attorneys following completion of an investigation and will represent the agency at all contested case hearings.

This position works closely with the investigative staff that is currently composed of three investigators and two investigative assistants. The person in this position attends commission meetings and assists the commission with understanding the facts related to discipline cases; develops cases for hearings; accompanies investigators on key interviews; and performs other duties as assigned. Following a period of induction, the position may also make presentations at conferences and to school districts regarding professional standards of conduct if assigned by the Executive Director.

Persons with a strong legal background or with experience in all of the above areas may be given preference.

The announcement for the position closes on Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
