  ESOL Endorsement Clarification
Released: Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 5:00 PM
A TSPC news release this week has been misunderstood. ALL TEACHERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ADD ESOL TO THEIR LICENSES.

ONLY teachers voluntarily adding an ESOL endorsement in the future are required to complete an academic program after September 1, 2009.

Here is the sentence that was misinterpreted:

Effective September 1, 2009 teachers holding an Initial, Initial I, Initial II or Continuing Teaching License are required to complete an academic program in order to add the ESOL endorsement to their teaching license.
