  Licensure Subcommittee Discussion - October 11, 2010, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Released: Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11:55 AM

The subcommittee will meet to discuss proposed amendments to the administrative rules concerning administrator licenses and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. Physical space at this meeting is limited. Please RSVP to Kathy Rogers at Kathleen.rogers@state.or.us if you plan to attend.

Administrator Licenses (9:00 am to noon)

The key question to be addressed is: What specific job tasks should require an administrator license? Currently, there is a great deal of variability across the state concerning how school districts answer this question. The subcommittee plans to develop recommended amended administrator rules for the commission to consider at the upcoming meeting on November 4-5, 2010.

Lunch on your own (Noon to 1:00 pm)

Continuing Professional Development (1:15 to 4:00 pm)

The subcommittee will discuss comments that were submitted at previous meetings. The goal is to outline clearly the different options for improving continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. Key questions to address include: How do we ensure high quality professional development training for educators? Who is responsible for signing off on CPDs? It is anticipated that the subcommittee will outline options for the commission to consider at the November meeting. At this time, it is not expected that proposed amended rules will be developed at this subcommittee meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for October 11, 2010 at the Oregon Department of Forestry, 2600 State Street, Salem, OR, Building C, Tillamook Room, from 9:00 to 4:00 pm.

If you have comments or questions, please contact Kathy Rogers at kathleen.rogers@state.or.us
