  News Release
The following is a news release from the Oregon Teacher Standards and Commission. If there are more details that we can provide for you, please feel free to contact us (see Contact Us).
Special meeting of Professional Practices Committee of the Commission
Released: Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 9:25 AM

The Professional Practices Committee of the Commission will meet in executive session (non-public) on Monday, January 10, 2011, beginning at 4:00 p.m. via teleconference call to consider pending disciplinary actions, pursuant to the provisions of ORS 342.176.

At the last Commission meeting, a new process was discussed in an attempt to quickly remove discipline cases from the investigators' workload that do not require an in-depth investigation. Many of the cases in this category would be patron complaints, reports from districts that are labeled as informational, those complaining of issues that are clearly employment issues, and those for which the Commission has no means of addressing. After review and consideration of each case, the Commission will either vote to dismiss the case (if a quorum of Commissioners is available) or refer the case back for further investigation.

If you have any questions, please contact Melody Hanson at 503-373-1260 or via e-mail at

The next regularly scheduled Commission meeting is scheduled for February 9-11, 2011, at the Salem Red Lion Hotel & Convention Center.
