  New Deputy Director / Coordinator of Teacher Education

Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Edwards as the new Deputy Director and Coordinator of Teacher Education. Karen assumes the position formerly occupied by Linda Samek.

Karen Edwards comes to TSPC from Chemeketa Community College where she has served as a Business Management Instructor since 1997. In 2001, she was also Adjunct Assistant Professor of Business at Western Oregon University in 2001. Karen's experience includes working in the Governor's Office of Education and Workforce Policy focusing on issues pertaining to K-12 education and higher education.

Karen anticipates receiving her Doctorate of Education from Oregon State University this summer. She also has a Master of Business Administration from Willamette University, Atkinson Graduate School of Management.

Karen states "I am looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities this position will offer." TSPC Executive Director Victoria Chamberlain stated she is very excited Karen has joined the TSPC team. Karen's breadth of professional experience will be extremely valuable in helping TSPC navigate our new licensure program and the challenges associated with No Child Left Behind.
