Adoption of rules on Practica Requirements
Released: Friday, June 6, 2003 at 5:00 PM

At the last Commission meeting, the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission amended OAR 584-017-0150 and OAR 584-060-0071 which stipulates the number of practica required to obtain authorization for K-12 in the specialty areas.

The Commission decided to have category A, Early Childhood and elementary, or category B, mid-level high school, and the ability to pick from one in "A" and one in "B" in order to qualify for authorization for preprimary through grade twelve.

These rules would apply to persons who begin a specialty area endorsement program after July 1, 2003, as part of the 2003 Fall term. An institution may choose to implement these rules retroactively if they believe it is in the best interest of the student candidate.

These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on May 15, 2003.
