New wording for ECE/ELE authorization levels.
Released: Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 5:00 PM

There has been some confusion regarding the correct assignment for educators holding Transitional, Initial or Continuing Teaching Licenses with the ECE/ELE authorization level. Therefore, we have made two ECE/ELE levels. One will appear as ECE/ELE U. Wording for this level, on the back of the license and on the License Inquiry web page, will designate that the educator is authorized to teach multiple subjects, self-contained at early childhood and elementary levels. The ECE/ELE U level is not valid for teaching art, ESOL, ESOL Bilingual, music, physical education, adapted physical education, reading, and special education. These areas require the endorsement.

The second code will appear as ECE/ELE L. Wording for this level, on the back of the license and on the License Inquiry web page, will designate that the educator is authorized to teach only the endorsement area(s) listed directly to the left of the authorization level (art, ESOL, ESOL Bilingual, music, physical education, adapted physical education, reading, and special education) on the face of the license. This authorization is not valid for teaching multiple subjects in the self-contained classroom.

Finally, it has come to our attention that the wording for the ECE/ELE levels on the Transitional, Initial and Continuing School Counselor Licenses incorrectly stated valid for "teaching." This has been corrected and the level will appear as ECE/ELE C on the front of the license.
